Lauren Semple (she/they) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans 25+ years across theatre, drag, music, painting, and public art. Whether taking the stage as drag king Andi Rogynous, performing in musical theatre, or creating large-scale murals, Lauren’s work is rooted in showmanship, storytelling, and radical self-expression.
Over the past two decades, Lauren has built a body of work that entertains, connects, and reclaims space. As a solo artist and co-creator of the mural duo Humanity in Art, their public artworks appear across the mid-island. On stage, Andi Rogynous brings high energy, sharp wit, and original storytelling, presenting everything from solo shows like Unboxing Bravery to hosted variety nights.
Lauren’s work captivates and commands the room, with big energy, sharp theatricality, and unforgettable sparkle to every performance.

Under the drag persona Andi Rogynous (he/they), Lauren is a dynamic drag king, producer, and showrunner.
Andi is the creator and star of the original solo production Unboxing Bravery, which premiered at the InFringing Dance Festival and opened Western Edge Theatre’s 24/25 season. Blending high-octane theatricality, bold storytelling, and interactive crowd work, Andi delivers unforgettable stage experiences.
Having produced and hosted dozens of shows, from holiday parodies to wild variety nights, Andi is known for their razor-sharp wit, commanding stage presence, and ability to keep an audience electric from start to finish.

Lauren Semple is a dynamic stage performer with over 25 years of experience spanning musical theatre, acting, vocal performance, and dance. Most recently seen as the Emcee in Cabaret (LLT/LMA), Lauren’s career is defined by transformative character work, powerful vocals, and high-energy storytelling.
Notable credits include Maureen in Rent (SP), Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof (SW), Madam Zee in The Cult of Brother XII (WE), and a Cagelle in La Cage aux Folles (SP). With a strong foundation in both vocal technique and choreography, Lauren thrives in roles that demand technical precision and immense theatricality.
Whether commanding the stage in classic musical scores or bringing bold new characters to life in contemporary theatre, Lauren delivers unforgettable, show-stopping performances.
Visual Art
Lauren is a visual artist and muralist specializing in large-scale public works, custom paintings, and clay sculpture.
For eight years, Lauren co-created Humanity in Art, producing dozens of vibrant community murals across Nanaimo. Now focused on a solo studio and mural practice, Lauren brings bold colour and striking design to every canvas and concrete wall she can get her hands on.
